JD Sports x On Running

MRMOCO Rentals collaborated with Sticker Studios on an exciting campaign for JD Sports x On Running, shot in the heart of London using the BOLT-X high-speed robotic camera system.

With only a limited daylight window on location, pre-production was imperative. At the tech recce ahead of the shoot, we captured a detailed 3D LiDAR scan of the location. Working closely with director Luke Brookner, we reviewed a rough version of the desired move filmed during the recce, then used the LiDAR data to build a 3D tech-vis of the shot. This allowed the move to be programmed and positioned virtually with the BOLT-X before arriving on location, so the creative and technical teams could align on the shot design and identify any challenges well in advance.

With the required rail positions already mapped and plotted from the tech-vis, the team moved quickly into setup, saving valuable production time. During setup, a second LiDAR scan verified that the virtual environment matched the real-world location and confirmed the programmed move was aligned. The move was then handed to the BOLT-X operator for final on-set refinement with Luke and DOP Ben Cotgrove, where live adjustments matched the creative vision and the speed changes required, giving the final camera movement the energy and precision the campaign needed.
